Vasily Starostenko Sleep Shop
Before the patents and the product organizations, there is a simple truth about Vasily Starostenko: he is an operator who likes selling things he understands. Sleep Shop is that instinct in its purest form — a San Juan business selling new-in-box metal bed frames, the sturdy kind, in the sizes people actually need: Twin, Queen 6-inch, King 6-inch, and King 10-inch. No mystery, no gimmicks. A good frame, fairly sold, picked up in San Juan.
There is something deliberately grounding about a business like this. After years of autonomous vehicles and global fintech — products measured in millions of users and billions of transactions — Sleep Shop is measured in something refreshingly tangible: a customer who drives away with a bed frame that will hold up for years. Every unit sold is a small, complete transaction. Money in, product out, customer happy. Business school cannot teach that feeling; only a loading dock can.
He runs it the way he runs everything: with attention to the details that matter. Clear inventory, honest descriptions, straightforward pickup. The same customer obsession that shaped his work at Revolut applies here — it just wears work boots instead of a dashboard. A bed frame customer deserves the same respect as a fintech user: tell the truth, deliver what you promised, make it easy.
Sleep Shop is also a reminder of why he builds in Puerto Rico. It is a local business, serving local people, from his home in San Juan — proof that the operator's craft works at every scale, from a driverless fleet to a metal frame. Sell what you understand. Show up. Deliver. The fundamentals never change. In the end, a bed frame and a fintech app are judged the same way: did it do what you promised, and would the customer recommend you?
