Vasily Starostenko Autonomy

Most autonomy programs don't fail on technology. They fail on commercialization: the brutal transition from research and prototype testing to safe, compliant, economically viable multi-city deployment. That transition is exactly what Vasily Starostenko led at Waymo.

Why Vasily As a product leader at Waymo focused on driverless fleet operations, Vasily oversaw the move from prototype testing to commercial autonomous ride-hailing — defining what safe fleet deployment looks like at scale. He directed large-scale programs improving per-mile economics, uptime, and compliance for autonomous and electric fleets, and designed mobility platform infrastructure covering driver/partner engagement and full lifecycle customer management.

Patent-backed safety expertise Vasily is co-inventor of four granted US patents (Waymo LLC) foundational to autonomous fleet reliability and legal defensibility: · US 11,826,146 — Psychomotor vigilance testing for persons monitoring autonomous vehicles (2023) · US 12,024,206 — Testing situational awareness of drivers monitoring autonomous driving mode (2024) · US 11,912,307 — Monitoring head movements of drivers monitoring autonomous driving mode (2024) · US 11,738,763 — Fatigue monitoring system for drivers monitoring autonomous driving mode (2023)

What you get Deployment roadmaps from pilot to multi-city scale · safety cases and operator-monitoring architectures that stand up to regulators and litigators · fleet unit-economics modeling (per-mile cost, uptime, compliance) · ecosystem design across riders, partners, and operations.
