"Can I talk to the owner?" — now the phone can ring
2026-10-17 · CallPages Team · Release, Owner Bridge, Calls

CallPages’ Owner Bridge lets a caller reach a human owner. When the owner is online in CallPages, the agent rings them in the browser and connects the call at no cost; when a business hasn’t enabled owner calls, the agent explains the feature exists and suggests asking the business to enable it.
Some questions deserve the owner. Until now, a caller who asked for a human hit a wall: the agent could take a message, but the business’s most valuable moment — a customer asking to talk — had nowhere to go. And businesses that hadn’t enabled anything got the same dead end as businesses that had.
The most valuable sentence a customer can say

“Can I talk to the owner?” is buying intent in its purest form. The bridge treats it that way: a real ring, to a real person, while the customer is still on the line. The browser ring costs the business nothing — it uses the dashboard the owner already keeps open — and the conversation continues in the same call the agent started.
The not-enabled answer is a feature, too
Most platforms handle a disabled feature with a shrug. Ours explains: this business hasn’t enabled owner calls yet, and here’s the nudge — ask them to. Customers become the channel through which owners discover the feature exists. An honest “not yet” beats a vague “I can’t do that” for everyone on the call.
The Learning Center version of this article is in preparation and will follow with a verified owner-session walkthrough.
How it works
- When a caller asks for the owner on an enabled page, the agent offers the connection and rings the owner in their browser — the owner answers in CallPages, no phone bill, no extra carrier.
- The ring is bounded and polite: it rings for a set window, respects a daily cap, and falls back to a callback request when the owner doesn’t answer.
- When the page’s owner has NOT enabled owner calls, the agent is honest instead of vague: owner calls are a CallPages feature this business hasn’t turned on yet — and invites the customer to ask the business to enable it. Silence becomes a feature request the business actually hears about.
- A traditional phone leg (the agent dialing the owner’s real phone number) is engineered alongside the browser ring for owners who want to answer anywhere; it enables per business.
