A Day at Work

What it is

A day at work occupies a huge part of our lives. If we calculate the hours, many of us spend more waking time with our coworkers than with our own families during the week. That is why the quality of a workday matters so much: the tasks we do, the people we interact with, the pressure we feel, and the satisfaction we take home at the end of the day all influence our health and our happiness. My typical workday is busy and full of variety, and although some days are exhausting, I have learned strategies to organize my time, communicate better, and protect my energy. My workday officially begins at nine in the morning, but my preparation begins earlier. When I arrive at the office, I greet my coworkers, put my bag in my locker or under my desk, fill my bottle with water, and turn on my computer. While the computer starts, I look at my calendar for the day: meetings, deadlines, calls, and appointments. Then I check my email, but I do it with a method. First, I scan all the messages quickly and mark the urgent and important ones. Then I answer those first. The rest can wait until later. Let's talk — 10 questions to discuss with your voice tutor: 1.
