Sleeping Well
Sleep is not a luxury, and it is not time wasted. Sleep is one of the most active and important processes in your body.
What it is
Sleep is not a luxury, and it is not time wasted. Sleep is one of the most active and important processes in your body. While you sleep, your brain organizes memories, processes emotions, and clears away waste products from the day. Your muscles repair themselves, your immune system strengthens, your hormones come into balance, and your heart and blood vessels rest and recover. When you sleep well, you wake up with clearer thinking, better patience, a stronger memory, and more stable energy. When you sleep poorly night after night, everything feels harder: you crave sugar, you lose concentration, you become irritable, and even small problems feel enormous. Good sleep is a foundation of both physical and mental health. How much sleep do adults need? Most adults need between seven and nine hours per night, although the exact number varies from person to person. Let's talk — 10 questions to discuss with your voice tutor: 1. How many hours do you usually sleep, and do you wake up feeling rested? 2. What is your routine in the last hour before you go to bed? 3. Does using your phone or watching television at night affect your sleep? How? 4. What helps you fall asleep when your mind is full of worries? 5. How do you feel, physically and emotionally, after a night of very poor sleep? 6. Do you take naps? If so, how long are they and how do they affect your night? 7. What changes could you make to your bedroom to sleep better in a warm climate? 8. Do you drink coffee or other drinks with caffeine? At what time of day do you stop? 9. Why do you think many people treat sleep as less important than work or entertainment? 10. What one small change will you try this week to improve your sleep? 📖 La lectura completa llegará en una actualización (la plataforma ahora limita el texto por lección).
