Fixed: the 'Online now' panel that never saw anyone

CallPages shows you, live, which customers are browsing your page right now — and the moment one of them calls. The Online now panel finally works the way it was always described; it truly went live on October 12, 2026.

Since October 4, the dashboard has promised an ‘Online now’ panel: see who is on your page at this moment, spot the visitor who is on a call, and follow up while they’re still deciding. Behind the scenes, the visitor heartbeat recorded each visit under the page’s public name, while the panel looked visitors up by the page’s internal id — two labels for the same page that never matched. The panel sat empty no matter how busy the page was, and an empty panel looks exactly like a quiet day, so nobody noticed.

An honest note first

This feature was announced on October 4, in the release that also brought call exports and voicemail. The announcement was written in good faith — and it was wrong. The panel existed, the heartbeats existed, but the two were keyed differently, so no visitor could ever appear. The October 4 posts carry a dated correction now; this story is the record of the fix.

What you see now

Open the dashboard while someone is browsing your page and they appear in Online now within moments. When that visitor taps call and connects, their row lights up — so you know a conversation is happening right now, not in a report tomorrow. If they’d rather you call back, their request lands in the same panel, where one tap accepts it, declines it, or sends it to voicemail.

How we know it works

The fix shipped in production release 2026.10.12 and was verified against the live site the same evening: a test visitor opened Mi Junta, the heartbeat appeared in the panel, the on-call state lit up, and callback accept, decline, and voicemail routing were each exercised. The empty panel correctly reads “No visitors right now” when the page is quiet — this time, quiet actually means quiet.

How it works

  1. While a customer browses your page, the page sends a small heartbeat; when their call connects, the heartbeat says so.
  2. The Online now panel now matches those heartbeats to your pages with one consistent key, and lists each live visitor — with a dot on the one who is talking to your agent right now.
  3. If a browsing customer asks for a callback instead, you can accept it, decline it, or route it to voicemail straight from the panel.
