Whether you stay in a large luxury hotel in Miami Beach, a small family hotel in Spain, a modern Airbnb-style apartment, or a cozy guesthouse in the mountains, knowing how hotels work in English will make your trip much smoother and much more enjoyable. Your experience begins at reception, also called the front desk. This is the heart of the hotel. The person who works there is the receptionist, and their job is to help you from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. When you arrive, you do check-in.
